The MSE’s which are either registered or have filed Entrepreneur’s Memorandum (EM) Part II with directorate of Industries/ District Industries centers and also registered with GS1 India for use of barcodes, are eligible for availing the financial assistance.

This allows you to satisfy and track orders of customers who walk in to the store and require something which is not in stock or not available off-the-shelf. This is naturally a hugely relevant feature for furniture makers, jewellery designers and shops, fashion designers.

A salesperson can also create a service order the same way as he would in the past for service requests. For this type of order a service bill is generated.

You can check pending orders and see orders by date. When the product gets ready and sold a cash memo is generated, items on the cash memo can be matched to the order and it can be seen when the order is completed.

You can also accommodate home delivery of the goods and thus make it unnecessary for the customer to come to the store to collect. Thus this enables possibilities for grocery and FMCG stores. An advance can be paid against the order (layaway system) and full amount can be paid when cash memo is generated or on delivery. In our naming system , this feature is called POS order and it is available in version 10.29.5. If you found this feature useful let us know on our Facebook page.

The first hardly know their right from their left and will go with the priciest solutions. The second category of vendors just recommend their partners. The third have a tendency to over-promise.

We wish we could do without the hassle of trying to sell our product. We want to make products that sell themselves, hence we work hard to build and support our software and actively ask our prospects to speak to customers (a list of customers is always on our site). So (i) don’t buy without calling up the referees and (ii) find out how the support works and if it right for your anticipated usage.

The second problem is looking for the perfect technology. There is no perfect solution rather there is an optimum solution for every budget. Every software has some rough edges. The important question is whether it is meeting your core needs without overwhelming you or your budget.

The best judge of a technology is you and your staff who are going to use and maintain the software.

So go ahead, ignore our sales talk and listen to our customers and your people.

Customer speaks

Tara Jewels is amongst the first companies in this domain to implement SAP in 2000 to support their vision and cater to a majority of their business functions. The SAP implementation is hosted in Mumbai. The information which was being received at the POS was not sufficient resulting in frequent need for manual intervention. Outbound information synchronization sent back to SAP was failing regularly too. This caused repeated tries to achieve the consistency and overuse of bandwidth and system resources. This loop led to lost opportunities at POS and lack of visibility at the management end.

Finally the management decided to opt for GINESYS POS to support their point-of-sale operations in 2010 and thus GINESYS needed to be integrated with the SAP implementation. Solving this problem head-on was not only a necessity but the challenge was doing so at a low cost, with few risks and quickly.

Check out the printed case study :

All of us have to gift something at some point and in this age of choice it makes sense to give a gift voucher to most people. Stores are selling gift cards but are unable to track and control them.

This is where we come in, by adding gift vouchers as a core feature in GINESYS. Interestingly, it is the first and only product in India to have this as standard.

Here is a summary of how it works:

At the Head Office you create vouchers of various denominations. A series of these vouchers gets added to a booklet. Validity dates can be set for the vouchers in the booklets or can be auto-calculated. These voucher booklets can then be allocated to stores and booklets already sent can be cancelled.

At the stores, these booklets can be barcode scanned and sold updating available booklets.

Naturally gift vouchers are now selectable as a payment option at stores. Redemption will update head office and other stores as well that this voucher has been redeemed.

On the reporting side, various reports can be seen like booklets sold, cancelled, redeemed, sales linked to gift vouchers and others.

We hope you will find this development as useful as we are excited about it.

Happy gifting.

We understand the frustration of having to tag each unique barcode with an image so that these show up with images during search. This is necessary despite the fact that the same image can be used for all similar articles, categories or descriptions. Our new Image Tagging Convention Feature speeds up the process drastically where there are multiple sizes or categories with the same image. This new feature works at item group level. A user can decide at which level an item image will be specified, e.g. Article, Category, Description, etc.

Other features added are:

1. widening the scope of Excise compatibility to the stock module of GINESYS,
2. the ability to define Excise Document Scheme for each module,
3. the ability to run scheduled data backup through operating system tasks.

As promised we have rolled out a new version of our software today with a provision for excise duty. It was obvious that the new rules of excise duty would be a show-stopper for many of our existing and future clients and thus we have successfully developed and released the functionality in a record time of two weeks.

Here is a summary of how it affects the various modules of GINESYS. If you want a detailed understanding you can watch a how-to video on http://goo.gl/HFUm7

New Excise features:

Inventory: A new setup form Tariff Master has been introduced for the head office. This allows an administrator to set up various parameters like Tariff No., Tariff Basis (MRP and Rates), Effective Date, Abatement Factor, Duty rate, Education cess etc.

For inventory article setup the Excise Tariff Number is available and will be defined at department level.

Sales & Distribution: There is now an option of choosing excise tariff when setting up invoice terms along with VAT .

Utilities: You can now choose if excise is applicable for the scheme document in a setup form and this will allow excise duty to be computed

Sales & Distribution: Excise charge will get calculated only when selected Document Scheme is ‘Excise Applicable’, otherwise excise charge will not get calculated.

Basic value = (Charge Basis – Abatement factor%)

Tariff Rate applicable for the date on which the invoice is generated will get populated and charge amount will get calculated.

There can be same charge name with multiple tariff in a single document.

That’s not all. We have not ignored other requirements either and have included automated remote backup in this release.

By upgrading to this release of GINESYS you will rest assured that your organization can become excise compliant very easily.
